Not-So-Funny smell

Recommended Posts

I have a 1998 Suburban with 209K miles on it. On Monday, a shop performed an "induction system cleaning" on the vehicle. This was done because it had been occasionally running rough, and the "Service Engine Soon" light came on, the diagnostic codes indicated random misfires.

The vehicle is running fine, but now I notice a chemical-ly smell when I drive, kind of like lawn fertilizer with weed killer in it. Its hard to pin down, but it seems like it is coming from the firewall/dash area. The shop says that there should not be any way that the chemicals used for the induction system cleaning should have gotten into the cabin air system, and I do not notice the smell under the hood.

I drove into work this morning with the windows open and the blower motor wide open trying to purge whatever it is out, but there still seems to be a smell.

Anybody have any ideas?
