I've only been to Ontario, and while the three lakes I've been there are very nice, none are trophy pike fisheries.

One of them used to be, but like many lakes in North America, the big 20+ year old gals were harvested out by the 1980s and the lake still hasn't recovered to have trophy pike, just nice numbers of upper 20s and low 30s.

Another has pike, but we've never broken 40 inches (closest I've come is 37), and we've never caught large numbers. 40s must be in there, but it's more of a musky/lake trout fishery.

The other is a smallmouth bass fishery with dink pike.

If I was going to hit somewhere up for trophy pike, I think I'd look away from Ontario and look towards Saskatchewan. I don't have any names (wish I remembered them), but I've seen multiple shows in Saskatchewan where it seems they're spending the entire week getting multiple 40+ers.

I've been lucky enough to fish in 7 different Canadian provences and have been to most of the big name camps. The Aurora Nights Lodge camp on the Taltson River is within your price range ($2800 the last I checked) and is one of the very best destinations for numbers of huge pike.

If you want to spend the money fishing, and do not mind driving, check out the area around Thompson, Manitoba or Lynn Lake, Manitoba. Of course can you can fly there also.

Much of your success will be determined by the time of the year you decide to go.

Also, check out the Manitoba Master angler annual report. It lists both caught and released fish and the lake.
