Siding: A good idea or not?

Looking for advice/input. My 10x16 permanent turns 17 this year. It's in good shape, but I'm thinking about siding it (given the age of its green-treated exterior.) However, I am NOT too skilled in home improvement. (Some say I'm the anti-Christ. crazy) So what's your advice for me? Is siding a good investment? (About how much for materials? I'm thinking vinyl...) Can I do it with minimal/no access to power for power tools/etc? Or should I just keep caulking/painting/etc? How many weekends would it take? (Notice I didn't ask "days"...)Thanks in advance.

A good coat of paint is easy. I paint mine every couple years to make sure it's sealed, at that time check frame, window caulking, etc. Good painting project to get the kids on, but make sure they have old clothes, and the house sits on grass not driveway.
