fishyspringer
Hi everyone,I have a 6 year old English springer spaniel. Lately he hasn't been himself. He has been acting lethargic and not having as much energy as he usually does and lost his interest in bones and other toys. He also seems to tire more quickly. He still eats and drinks normal. So I brought him to the vet yesterday and they drew some blood to send off to the lab. From the results they think that Addison's disease may be a possibility. They want to do another test to rule it out. Has anyone had any experience with Addison's disease in your dog? Do you think I should get a 2nd opinion? Thank you
MuleShack
It sounds like symptoms of lyme disease also.make sure they rule that out also.2nd opinions are always a good thing, but if the blood work is comign from a lab out side of your vet, then chances are another vet may be sending the same blood sample to the same lab?just a thought. Crappyfisherman
My Brittney (Rocky) had Addison for 4 years, we lost him last year due to another problem. He got it when he was 6 years old. He had to have a shot once a month $115.00 and other meds. to regulate it. He did very good and was very active. He did drink a lot of water and needed to go out all the time. (Search Addison Disease in dogs) and you will find many web sites on it. Watch out for the ones trying to sell you treatment. My wife and I will say a prayer for your special freind,Dan
fishyspringer
Yes the blood was sent to an outside lab, I didn't think about that. What kind of treatment are you talking about? something other than the pills and shots? Thank you for your thoughts.
Crappyfisherman
Talk to your vet. You will see a lot of stuff on the web sites. Don't know if any of them work. The treatment my vet used worked for my dog, that is all I can tell you. Good luck
