I have never been to Tessup, but I have been to many other lakes thru NWO. What we have always done is talk to the group that is coming out when we are coming in. The groups coming out have always been extremely helpful. You could also give Vic a call a week or 2 prior; he always hears what is working best on the various lakes.

That said, we have never had a problem catching fish. This year we were at Birch Lake on the 3rd tier and literally caught hundreds of walleye between the 7 of us. Our biggest problem was catching enough walleye under the 18" size to eat, until we found where the smaller ones were. In fact, there were a bunch of 16" to 20" walleyes that lived under our dock and we even droplined and caught (and released) them. We have had that kind of great fishing at every lake we have been to. I wouldn't worry too much about catching fish.

I just wanted to add that we go to a different lake with NWO every time and always catch fish. So we are always starting out at a lake we are not familiar with. What we do is bring a portable locator for each boat. We then start out by trolling with a shad rap while watching the locator. Everyone heads off in a different direction. That gives us an idea of the lake, what depths we're marking fish, where we caught fish on the shad rap, etc. After that we go back to where we marked fish and fish almost exclusively with jigs tipped with a minnow or leech.

Thanks guys! Great ideas!

Another question I had is the "no hassle" food plan. Did that seem like enough food to cover the week? It seems like a lot but you never know. Last question....we are staying I-Falls the Friday before and then getting up and driving to the plane. Was it a big hassle to get booze at the boarder?

Thank you so much everyone!!

We always go with their food package. We always brought up extra Shore Lunch breading because we eat fish at least once a day. We do the "surf and turf" at almost every meal and usually have enough food. The other extras we bring are cooking oil, spices, milk, pop and beer. But it depends on how big of an eater you are.

We have never bought our booze at the border because it always seemed like it would be a hassle. We buy it here in the Cities. And NEVER buy booze in Canada, it costs a small fortune! You can bring 1 case beer or 1 bottle into Canada duty free. I have been told that even if you pay dty on extra booze, it's still cheaper than buying it in Canada.

Almost forgot. We bring a package of dog treats for anyone who complains about my cooking. Funny thing, I've never had a complaint yet LOL

Have you been up to Tessup yet? If so, how did you do? Our group has considered Tessup a couple times in order to save some money, although we generally prefer the lakes where we are the only people on the lake. Let me know what you thought of Tessup when you get back.
