Tube nosediving

milkingman

Question

When I pull my tube behind my boat(115 johnson) it wants to nosedive at higher speeds. When I start out it goes okay, but when I start to accelerate it go right down. I even shifted my kids to the back of the boat and it still did it. It's a triangle tube I just bought and it was its first time out. Any Ideas?. Rope to long or short? Anyone else encounter this? Thanks for the help.

Triangle tubes are notorious for nose diving, and really aren't too much fun to ride. IMO. I found that it helps if the rider pulls up on the front of the tube during acceleration. Your kids may be too small to do this.

Low air pressure could also aggrivate the problem, as well as if the center of the tube has a bunch of water in it creating more weight and drag.

It would also likely help if the boat had a tripod to keep the rope higher, maybe it does.

You also need to put the throttle DOWN!!! DOn't lolly gag on the take off, get her up to speed, then back off to appropriate speed.

How long does it take your boat to get on plain? Maybe trim that baby all the way down on take off, then trim it back up when you pick up speed...It's common practice (If you know how to drive a boat pulling skiers, etc) to play with the trim on takeoff.
