Drop Shot

Recommended Posts

I told a coworker who doesn't fish much how to drop shot and he tried it on the lake that his inlaws have a cabin. He caught a handfull of walleyes during the day that impressed his father in law since it is a clear lake and usually a low light bite.

I have tried dropshoting for walleyes, although I usually prefer a jig or a split-shot rig instead of a dropshot if targeting walleyes.

But, I've caught plenty of walleyes on dropshot rigs while bass fishing, so it definatley works. For sure give it a try and see if it works for you.

I've caught a few of them....Interestingly enough, I use a drop-shot rig in the winter for walleyes and perch. Works great to pound the bottom to either make some noise or stir up the mud. Sure is fun to watch them come in on the camera.

And I've caught walleyes trying to catch bass on deep weedlines, so as others have said, it can definitely be done. Whether or not it's the best way to catch them is a different question. I imagine if you had a honey hole where you knew the fish were hanging out, you'd do great. If the fish are scattered, I bet you could find a way that would be more successful because you could cover more water.
