JScott
I'm just realizing that with a cabin, extra lot, and wooded back yard at home It is about time I invest in a chipper. Trying to keep the cost under $700 or so and would like something that will take up to 2 3/4 - 3" branches.Something towable behind and ATV would be a plus as well.I've been hearing some good things about the Earthquake chipper at TS for around $600.Anyone have experience with this brand, or any other info. as to what I should be looking for? titelines
Don't have any specific experience with that brand. Our neighbor got a DR. Wood Chipper up at the cabin last year and loves it. It's towable, reliable and self-feeding. He's done a ton of brush and stuff with it. Gonna borrow it at some point this year and knock down our brush pile a bit. reinhard1
i bought a 10hp yard mashine at lowes a few years ago. paid $600 bucks for it and it was supposed to do 2 inches with no problem. if i had to do it all over again i would get a DR as well. all my branches basicly have to be straight to work well. light brush works ok but takes time. invest the extra cash in a DR. good luck. tcwin
My experience says to get the biggest opening you can afford, with a properly sized motor, or you will spend a lot of time trimming the branches to fit. I had a 3 inch Craftsman Chipper that worked great, as long as the it was straight and trimmed. It didn't like bent branches or off-shoots at all.
