Need advice on a new compressor?

Thinking about getting a new compressor, my old one has about had it, switch is out, won't restart, leaks. Don't need a big one, just want to be able to pump a flat tire, blow out the radiator, want it to be quiet, the old one is a noisy little b%$#%##%!! Want it on wheels for easy movement, not too heavy in case I need to load it.

Was looking at a few last week, one big difference I see is that you can either buy and upright one or the convential horizontal tank. Any downside to an upright one?? Was thinking it would take up less room in the shop.

Another varable is 'oil-free' vs having to put in oil. Oil free would be nice, but am thinking that would make it noisier?? Plus I had one once that required oil and next thing you know its leaking all over the floor.

Any advice appreciated!!! I'd like this to be the last compressor that I ever buy!!

An oil free compressor will be a little louder and will not last as long. If you only use it occaisionally it should still last you as long as you need it. As a contractor we had to replace an oil free one every year or two. I have had and oil lubed ne for 8 years now.

Thanks!!! I didn't even realize there WAS a Tool forum!!! My bad!!! From reading thru the threads, looks like if I want quiet, I better get one with oil in it.
