help with used boat price

I found a 1998 YarCraft glass boat, 1785 Mille Lacs Musky Hunter Edition (side console) with a 115 Suzuki on the back and a 71 pd motor guide trolling motor on the front. It comes with two depth finders and a GPS unit. The motor has been compression tested and for a 10 year old boat, it is in immaculate condition, in fact I still cant believe it is 10 years old considering the shape its in. All equipment is the same age as all was new with the boat in 1998 and all works. THe asking price is $10,000. I cant find any info on this boat online accept a little from NADA which says the boat is only worth about 4500. Any thoughts on if this is a good price or not. I appreciate your help.

My 2 (maybe 3) cents. First, what else is out there and comparable in quality? (What's the price on those? How long have these all been up for sale?) Second, that sounds like a premium rig. Had it come up about 5 years ago when I was looking for something similar, I probably would have bit. Third, make an offer. Worst they say is "no." More likely, they might counteroffer. Again, sounds like a nice rig. Good luck.

remember that NADA lists retail prices that dealers would sell that boat for. if you look at the NADA suggested price(price when brand new) for this boat it was around $20,000.00 so if it is in good shape like you say then $10,000 for the package wouldn't be bad since the value only went down $1,000 per year. plus add in what comparible fish finders and trolling motor would cost new but then figure 10 year old ones should be around 50% of new(if they work and are in good shape). it is ultimately up to you as to how much you are willing to pay. if you plan to finance this then you would have a hard time finding a bank to do the deal because of the age of the boat. If you are going used and financing look for something 5 years old or newer. another thing to think about is if you plan to finance then look at something new. the right bank will go out 10 years on payments (there is no pre payment penalties if you pay it off sooner). when I bought my boat this spring I was sure I couldn't find financing but I was able to when I used the dealers finance company. they shopped around with the different banks and found one that would do the deal but only went out 7 years instead of 10 years(I plan to pay off sooner thou).

I think you have found a great deal on a package. The motor alone is worth some money and is as dependable as the sunrise. If it were me shopping it would already be gone.

In fact, I wouldn't wait too long or it WILL be.Make an offer. Get off the bench. Make a decision. Act!

Enjoy the boat.
