Live Bait Rigs

Guest

Recommended Posts

I would like to begin tying my own live bait rigs. Crawler harnesses, Leech rigs, ect. Does anyone know of some good reference material regarding the subject? Ie books, videos, internet? I have been unable to locate much and am looking for information regarding blades, mono length & test, hook size, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That post will give you some good pointers.
One more is make sure you use some good quality line like trilene XT, fireline or just something strong and abrasion resistant.
And remember to keep your hooks sharp. grin.gif

See this post below: http://fishingminnesota.com/ubb/Forum45/HTML/000131.html There's a good source for tying knots.

Everybody has their own personal methods. I have been using 10 pound fluorocarbon 3 or 4 foot lengths. #2 hook, and medium sized blades, 5 red beads. I use the Uni-Knot, but it's around the hook shank instead.

I bought the Infiltrator spinner kit from this HSOforum. These blades will spin on the slowest drift. I saved a weblink about tying crawler harnesses if you're interested.

I have been using 10# Berkley Vanish Florocarbon line. Keep a variety of snell lengths as well as different size and color spinners. My favorite is the brass hammered spinner. I also use a variety of hook sizes from #8 to #2, so I will have a rig ready for whatever the circumstances require.

It would be interesting to hear what others due. Good luck!!
