Microchip Question

Does the chip contain your contact info or just a code that they call in to retrieve your contact info? WHat I'm wondering is do I need to pay a yearly fee or is that for extras I really don't need? (HomeAgain...)

I have Home Again and do not pay a yearly fee, just the initial fee. I do beleive they have to call to get the contact info. The chip also come with a collar tag that has the chip # and an 800 #. My dog took off when it was a pup and the neighbor a bock away caled the number and home again called me minutes later. worked exactly how it was supposed to.
