Leech Lake

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Newb here with post #2. I've got a big family trip up to Leech next week. Leaving next Saturday and staying at Brindley's. Counting down the days already and it can't come soon enough.

Curious if anybody has fished Leech at all yet this year. I don't fish as hard as I would like during this trip since it's more of a family deal, but usually find a few hours every evening to get some casts in. Found some fish in Walker Bay last year, but didn't see anything on the main lake (though it was bright and sunny all week and I've heard clouds and wind turn on the rocks on the main lake).

Any info on the lake would be appreciated. I'm not asking for exact spots, just lure suggestions and general structure that the fish have been on.

Thanks!

Leech is ready to go - as always in mid-July. Your timing should be fine. There is great cabbage weeds this year. Grand View weeds are good, too. There are fish on the rocks already, out in the main lake. If you saw fish in Walker Bay/Agency Bay last year, you will see them again this year - weeds good there too.

We have found a number of dead muskies over the past week or so - most probably due to succombing to the rigors of spawning and not recovering since there were no noticeable signs of trauma.
