All right im asking for some expert info please? A week ago I was hitting eyes on tip ups and we were not getting any in the house. then the warm up came and the flags stoped and nothing in the house. Were did they go. Are they deeper or do they not like my shinners any more. Any help would be nice. Thanks

What were the conditions? Depth? Structure? If you were catching them shallow and the warm up melted the snow, they could have gone deeper. If they were in transition between spots, they could have moved on.

Would like to know more.

Thanks for answering my question. We were in about 10 feet of water with a little layer of weeds on the bottom. and they seemed to like the shinners just on top of the weed line. Thanks

My guess is that they moved deeper because of the light issue with the melting snow. 10ft isn't that deep for ice walleyes. I would fish them near dusk or after dark in this spot or try them in that 18-24ft range.

LW, I have a walleye fishing book which studied walleyes on Ten Mile Lake, by Hackensack. I was amazed. I believe they studied three walleyes, something like 21",23",25'. Even in the winter, at times, two of the fish moved up to one mile per day. Even in the winter, actually winter did not diminish how much they moved. I couldn't believe it. Knowing that I understand why fishing can be so tough. It's also reminded me to consider alternative spots. Frankly, it hasn't made my walleye fishing any better or worse. It just get's me trying new spots. Other than that, I'd consider deeper also, as earlier stated. Good luck.
