TubaDr
We have a yellow lab/ irish setter mix that is 7 months old that barks constantly. Other than a bark collar what can we do to stop this? She is a great dog until she is tied up or in her crate.
Jmnhunter
one thing i read you could try is when shes in the crate try shaking the crate, she'll be too focused on balancing and will stop barking, then when you stop, immediatly start shaking it again when she starts again, she will soon learn that if she barks the crate will become uncomfortable for her, then you can let her out ONLY when she quits barking/whining. abcnerdd
I would not shake his crate when shes in there, that would make her not want to go back inside when shes told to. It's time to teach the quiet command. Each time she barks, say quiet, when she stops, reward; repeat.
mainbutter
Ditto on quiet command.Dogs respond faster to reward training!
TubaDr
shaking the crate is not an option because she weighs 70# and my son will also need to be able to give the commands. I did read that if I use a dog whistle followed by the quiet command then reward. That seems to be working.
