walleyecheeks
Is there any where, where I can get a 9.9 chrysler motor fixed in the metro area? I've called a few shops and no one will touch them.
walleyecheeks
Well the problem is, that I can get it running but it won't open up all the way. It only runs about half speed.
marine_man
It's tough to find someone to work on that old of a motor.. you might be better of trying to find a backyard / independent mechanic. Can you describe your problem a little more? Sounds like you go to WOT on the throttle and you are only getting 1/2 speed?Have you checked to make sure you have spark on both cylinders? How was the motor winterized, and is this the first time out with it this year? When was the motor run last?marine_man
walleyecheeks
I have spark at both plugs. I'm not sure how it was winterized. It was a hand me down from my uncle. The last time it was runned was last fall. I put new lower gear lube in it, new plugs and fresh gas. I even call a few backyarder's from C-list but they won't touch them either. Rick G
Is the carb opening all the way to 90 degrees when you turn the throtle open? I used to run a 10hp chrysler back in the day on my river rig and once in a while the set screw on the throtle/carb linkage would loosen up so the carb wouldn't open all the way. boatfixer
I even call a few backyarder's from C-list but they won't touch them either. Theyre actually quite easy to work on.
