Mpls overweight vehicle

LightningBG

Question

So a buddy of mine asked me to drop off a load of class 5 at his house with a full sized dump truck. Problem is, the last 1.5 blocks to his house has a 3 ton weight limit.

Anyone know if the city issues permits to bring an OW load down a resi street? I looked on the city's site but couldn't find anything. Just mndot stuff as far as ow permits is all I could find.

The whole 3 ton thing is ridiculous considering an Xcel maintenance truck and many delivery trucks are over that. even my lightest dump truck is about 12 tons EMPTY.

I'm not a big fan of permits, so its taking all I have to even ask and not just drive it on through. If more axles is the key I can use a super-16 and just fill it partially but that will still be heavier. a smaller truck will be easier back into the driveway.

Rules rules rules. So sick of it.

So.... Anyone know about permits?

OK... it's sound like you are going to need a Right of way permit in order to deliver your load that exceeds the area weight limit.....so you'll have to call Doug Midday at 612-673-5755

Good luck and keep us posted on the never ending permit saga that we have here in MPLS.... smile
