Broken rod

Is there a way to fix a broken rod? The break is close to the middle of the top portion of a 2 piece rod.

oh, it's a graphite rod blank

They can be fixed with sleeve from another rod. Works fairly well, but impossible to make it look like nothing happened.

I have used sleeves and inserts from other blanks, generally salvalged broken or unaccepted blanks. Depends on how bad the break is splintered. Like Northlander said, you are going to know its been repaired. I generally wrap the repair site with the same thread used on the blank. At least you end up with your rod back in serviceable condition.

Thanks guys. What I've read is that you should use a fiberglass sleeve if the rod is graphite. Now I have to find an old fiberglass rod.

I don't think the composition is near as important as the fit. Graphite or a composite will work.
