side imaging

Best speed is usually a fast troll (3-5 mph). It also helps to change the range to about 75 feet to either side. You certainly can see things further out, but you get better detail the closer to the boat you pass something (and you can't cast much more than 75 feet anyway). I also run my sensitivity at 12 and leave the enhance mode off.

You NEED to adjust your chart speed to match your boat speed. You will get crisp images anywhere from 2-6mph, and any faster for me i get interference (Have some work to do in adjustig the ducer)

Edit: Keep you boat going in a straight line (When you turn you boat the image turns to [PoorWordUsage]), and avoid side to side bouncing from rough water.

where is the enhance mode? i will try setting my distance to 75ft. my problem is i have a lot of surface clutter or noise or something i have noise rejection on high and surface clutter turned on but i don't get the nice black screenfrom the top of the collum to the bottom like the pictures show my image is pretty fuzzy looks like a snow storm where i thought it should be black

The surface clutter setting is for the 2d sonar not the SI. It should be black unless there is a lot of debris in the water. It will be like you describe also if a boat had been in the area under power. The disturbance from the prop causes this in the water for quite some time. If it is always there you could be getting interference from another sonar in the boat if you have one try turning that one off.

Go to the main SI screen, not a combo screen, and hit menu. You should see a selection for SI enhance. I also like it off. If you set it on and set the contrast way up you will also get a snow like appearance.

the way it sounds is this enhance feature is giving me my snow storm the only other sonor on the bout is a lowrance on the front trolling motor but i still have snow when that is not in the water, side note( the dvd they sent with the unit is blank is that normal? )

If you upload an image it will give us a really good idea of what is going on. Put in an SD card, turn Snapshot to "ON" and hit the MARK button. That will save the image. Put that card in your computer and load the image on here.

Keep you sensitivity around 10 and contrast also around 10. I wouldn't fluctuate more than 2 up or down from 10. SI enhance SHarpness from low to medium will increase the "snow" effect your probably seeing.
