GPS Chip issue

I have a Lowrance HD gps unit in my boat. I have been running the Lakemaster chip and recently purchased a Navionics chip for improved display of the contours (that's another issue). My gps unit definitely does not like the Navionics chip. The display is herky jerky and jumps in and out of focus when I move. I switched back to the Lakemaster chip. Anyone else have a similar problem? I did follow the procedure for switching chip types as per the manual.

The Lowrance 4.0 update was suppose to help with that issue. I do not know it that is true as I use the lakemaster chip and do not have any issues.

There are a lot of various "fixes" in the new 4.0 update. Smother mapping redraw was one I believe.

Either way load the new update as there are many tweaks in it to simplify menu items and the like.

How do you put the 4.0 update into the gps?

Download the update onto a clean 4 gig blank SD card, then pop it into the HDS and start it up. There are instructions at the links I provided above.

Just let it do all it's thing and do not interrupt it when it is installing the new update...be patient. It can take a few minutes to upload fully and it then will restart at least once all by itself.

Read through the download and update instructions on the Lowrance web site first and it should be easy.
