Pool filling filter

Ryan_V

Question

It's time to fill the pool for the summer. I'm on well water and have heard there is a magnetic type filter of some sort to use that will take 99+% of the metals out so the water will start clear. I was never able to get it to clear up last year. If anyone knows anything about these, where I can get one and how much they cost, I would appreciate it! Is a 18' x 4' deep pool.

Ryan I had the same thing going on every year but havent had any problems since I started puting a metal out product called pool magnet into the water and let the filter run for a day before adding any type of clorine. Had the well water tested and it showed some copper which turned my water greenish brown.

I have a sand filter on the way. After doing some serious research, this seems like the ticket. If it doesn't work, I'm going to put my kids on their floaties in the pool, set up the video camera, and poke a hole in the pool so it lets loose a tidal wave, then send the video into americas funniest home videos and try to get some of the money I've poured into it back!

Did you ever bring a water sample into a pool store they will test it for free and tell you what you need. I never heard of a sand filter does that fit into the pump that comes with the pool or is this a whole separate pump Good luck

The sand filter replaces the pump and filter that come with the pool. (the one from the pool is garbage) I got it hooked up last night. When I started, I couldn't see 6", just got home from work and I can almost see the bottom already. I also have the saltwater chlorine generator too, so very soon I'll have a sparkling pool! Bear in mind that I live in the country and have very hard well water, thats where my problems come from. If I had city water to fill, I would be ok with the stock filter and pump, maybe smile I'm becoming somewhat of an expert, so if you have any questions, let me know.
