RebelSS
Picked up a Hormel 1 1/2 pound bourbon & maple center cut filet on sale for $4. My local Super- Target blows these out when the sell-by date is a week away, off and on during the summer. Anyone tried these before? I like them (only if they're on sale) for a quick and no-fuss meal. I sprinkled my rib rub on this one, and wrapped it in with 4 slices of smoked maple-flavored bacon. Gonna throw 'er on over the apple wood this afternoon. The teriyaki ones are pretty good too, the bbq less so, in my opinion.
reinhard1
the only probably i have had with these are they are too heavy on the salt in my opinion. i have also tried the beef types in the same fashion and found them salty as well and the shrinkage was very noticable. so in summary, i dont care for them, thus doing my own and with the ideas on this forum. good luck. RebelSS
Good point. I'd forgot about that, but I sure agree with ya on the saltiness. I've only had two of them, and one was pretty salty. I actually rinsed this one well before I did anything with it, but whatever they brine them in is probably in all of them. It's been a year since I've had one...maybe they won't be as bad. I look at it as a 4 buck quickie.
