Question

Hi, got a new 788ci this winter, to be honest only got about half way through the manual so far. My question is when out fishing I dont get the arch hook of fish showing up on the screen all I get is blobs. Is this right for this model or are my settings wrong? if I put on fish alert I get the phoney little fishies that come across the screen. I want arches. Maybe theres no fish in my lake. Any help? thx.

If you're not getting arches, adjust the angle of your transducer. You won't get arches from every fish, they need to be in the center of the transducer cone and they need to pass though it relatively quickly to make an arch.

Personally, I don't worry about arches. I try to interpret what the screen is showing me, whether arches or not. My favorite is wide thick lines that go all the way across the screen, that usually means big fish and/or multiple fish that are staying right below you. There's no way to get an arch in that situation (fish staying right below you and not moving out of the transducer cone).

Good luck.

That's what I was told for another guy. Especially if you can pin point it behind the boat and cast to it. He gave me an example of chasing crappies where they were feeding on bait fish and the entire two feet of his graph went light green and stood and cast into it and yanked the crappies out.
