Tip top glue?

Recommended Posts

I don't like using hot glue anymore for tip tops as they eventually come loose.

What is the best way to adhere this to the rod tip? confused

Ive used 5 minute epoxy, but you better be sure it is on correctly because you cant get it off after its hardened. I was told you can heat it up but I could not get it off and ended up melting the blank so I had to trim it down.

Keep in mind your clear general use glue sticks melt at 178 degrees. Leave that in your car on a day that its warm and sunny you can best bet that the tip might soften up or simply fall off.

I use paintless dent repair glue sticks as a buddy had some laying around his shop. 375 degrees is what this stuff melts at.

Thanks for the tip! I will look into those glue sticks. I have been using the Flex Coat tip glue with no problems at all. I had trouble with 5-minute epoxy tip removal on a size 4 tip. Now it's a size 4.5! laugh

Just remember if you heat up a tip top to loosen the glue to move it that your also heating the blank. If its graphite especially you will heat treat it and make it brittle and your highly likely to snap the tip off and if its in the middle of fighting a fish your not gonna be happy.
