Waconia Help

I am heading out to Waconia this weekend. Are the 'Eyes active? What seems to be the ticket? Would love some tips.

James, how'd you do? I haven't fished that lake in a long time. I've always liked the clay banks though.

I know we were doing something wrong. We did not get anything, not even a stray pike. We SLOW trolled some Shad Raps and Tail Dancers along the edge of the weedline, along any drop offs, by the clay banks, around the island. We ended up leaving and going to Stieger.

We went back to Waconia around 10pm but In Towne was closed, so no leeches, no crawlers. Stayed out until almost 2am with no luck. I am not giving up on that lake. I know that it was something that we were doing wrong.

Don't get down on yourself! Waconia can be a VERY difficult lake to fish. Drifting the deaper water, around kegs has been giving up a few eye's on Lindy's but you have to work it SLOW. Hang in there, because it is such a difficult lake, the reward is that much better when you finally get on em!

The thing that I noticed in the deep water was the lack of structure, or fish for that matter. We were marking some fish along the deep weeds, but nithing was hitting. We were generally trolling between .8 and 1.5 mph. Using Raps this was slow enough to give them a real slow wobble. Next time out I will try a long line lindy. Thanks for the help!
