bobbymalone
anybody try it and what kind of results? I've got a 'bird unit and their shoot thru-the-hull ducers are not recommended for aluminum boats, but there seems to be some chatter on the internets that it can work.I've thought about a mounted thru the hull ducer but i'm not super excited about drilling a one inch hole through the bottom of my boat, nor do I think I can do that one at home with my $39.99 black and decker cordless drill.my transom mount transducer either works and throws up a gigantic rooster tail or it doesn't work and it throws up no rooster tail. wastewaterguru
I have a inexpensive humminbird 565 on my Riverpro with a shoot through hull aftermarket ducer (alumaducer I think). My hull is .190 gauge and it reads bottom and fish at wide open throttle (40 plus mph) in 30 feet of Minnesota river muddy goo. They work better with a flat bottom versus a V-hull but you should be fine. Just make sure to epoxy the ducer as recommended. Even the stock transom ducer can be epoxied with success (I just siliconed the ducer that came with my 565 originally and that work until the silicone started to fail - then I decided to try the alumaducer).
