Shimano citica vs shimano curado

Recommended Posts

Three bearings separate the two series and the Curado E comes with a Magnumlite spool versus an aluminum lo-mass spool on Citica E. Other differences between the two reels include a titanium line guide versus ceramic, cold forged dragstar versus standard metal alloy, and Septon PV power grips versus traditional rubber knobs.

the spool on the citica has plastic pins vs the metal on the e7. the curado has a bearing on the main shaft vs bushing on the citica & theres bearings in the handle knobs on the e7. those are the 3 bearing differences.

the curado will throw lighter baits better than the citica also due to the spool differences.

citica is a great reel but the curado is better. if you end up gettin a citica, i'd upgrade the spool bearings (would in either) to abec 7 ceramic hybrids from Boca Bearing.

both reels from what i've been told come with abec 3 stainless steel bearings stock. you will noticed a difference with upgrading those 2 spool bearings.

hope that helps =)

I would also reccomend taking a look at the castaic. The feature I like on that model is you can engage and disengage the reel with one hand without having to bring your other hand up and trip the handle. This works extremely nice for following contours while pulling bottom bouncers.

If you're looking for a primary use reel get the Curado. If you're looking for a secondary use reel get the Citica.

In addition it's nice to have the bigger handle grips on the Curado. When it comes to casting, the Curado does a much better job when you get to weights of 3/8 oz. That's worth the extra $$$. The Citica is only marginal and much better suited for 1/2 oz weights or more.

I own both of them. They are outstanding. Get the Citica and buy some more lures with the difference. I even have an old Shimano Cardiff for throwing X-Raps. It is very good, too. Six good months of fishing ahead, yes.
