Tiger Muskies

Recommended Posts

I want to start some Muskie fishing and there is both Lake Waconia and Eagle Lake pretty close to me. I know Lake Waconia is a proven performer, but I saw that Eagle Lake has about 300 Tiger Muskies put in it every three years. So my question is.. If Tigers are sterile, would I only be trying to catch about 650 fish in the whole lake? Im sorry if this was a really stupid question... Thanks

Muskie are managed to be at roughly .3 fish per acre, so actually you are trying to catch less than 100. Really in MN there aren't many waters that have much more than that 0.3/acre number. So no, you wouldn't be wasting your time on Eagle. Tigers are easier to catch, but generally most do not survive long enough to hit the big sizes you will see out of the pure strain fish in Waconia.

eagle lake in Young America past waconia I think is the one meant

if you go there make sure you have good traction on the ramp and walk carefully on the actual ramp or you will fall on your head,,this is a scummy slimey lake and the ramp is sometimes covered in slime,,I had to pull a brand new with the sticker still on the window chevy 4wd pickup up the ramp because he kept slipping on the slime,,floating bogs and very dark water might be other better choices for tigers for your day

IMO there aren't any bad ones. from downtown to the burbs, i'd take my chances on almost any of them, but everyone has their favorites.

used to be a guy on here who went by JRedig who fished tonka a lot, until he sold his Ranger and took up knitting
