apegs
Wondering if any of you guys have ever used or had success with the mop jig. In the club I'm in I am always fishing in the back of the boat. Just trying to think of something that might get me one big bite. Also what size do you usually throw and what kind of trailor would be recommended? river rat316
I have had alot of success with the mop jig, I tie my own version that has buck tail, heavy rubber, and flashabou and have been very successful with it. The one misconception with the mop jig is its huge, while it looks huge out of the water it really doesn't fish that big, rubber floats so it flairs out more exposing more of the hair, silicone, trailer or whatever is underneath it. Here is a pic of one of my hippy jigs underwater, the trailer on the jig is a 4.5" beaver style bait and you can see its more than big enough! And here is one that is out of the water, you can see how much bigger they appear out of the water. Here they are on my site http://www.northstarbaits.com/hippyjigs.html
