Walleyes?

Recommended Posts

Anyone finding any post-spawn walleyes in the northern part of the MO or anywhere in eastern KS? I will be heading out this Sunday for the first time for walleyes this year and was just looking for any lakes that aren't detailed in the KC Star or kdwp websites. Thanks in advance, I will post a report when if I find any.

This is the report Missouri Dept. Cons. sent out this week. Go to their HSOforum and you can sign up for weekly reports smile

Bilby Ranch Lake: 50 degrees, low, clear; walleye spawning on dam, cast crankbaits at night for best results; crappie and black bass slow; channel catfish good. (Report made on 4/13/2011)

Mozingo: 60 degrees, normal, clear; walleye active on the dam at night with crankbaits; black bass and bluegill fair; crappie good on jigs over deeper brush; channel catfish slow; natural baits such as nightcrawlers, minnows and chicken livers are working best. (Report made on 4/13/2011)

Paho: 56 degrees, high, dingy; channel catfish and bullheads good on nightcrawlers; largemouth bass fair on soft plastic baits in shallows; all other species slow. (Report made on 4/14/2011)

Pony Express: 58 degrees, normal, crappie good on jigs in silt basins; Buffalo Bill Lake water temps are warmer than main reservoir; all other species fair. (Report made on 4/13/2011)

Smithville: 52 degrees, normal, dingy; crappie fair in shallow water near brush/trees on minnows and a variety of jigs; white bass fair in the creek arms of the lake on jigs; walleye slow with some success in the evening off of the dam with shallow diving stickbaits. Please remember that any snagged/foul hooked fish must be returned to the water immediately; all other species slow. Smithville Lake Spillway: all species slow.

Thanks Finns,

I guess I should have added that HSOforum into my list of things I frequently read. It is an informative place as well.

We only fished for 4 hours on Sunday morning on Holton-Banner Creek lake in KS, only found 2 crappies that wanted to bite. Water temps were still 55 degrees surface temps. We marked a ton of fish in some usual spots we just couldn't get them to bite. Hoping for better luck next time out.

Happy Fishin',

KC
