cedar interior (fish house)

I bought a new Ice Castle with all cedar inside this year. I was planning on putting polyurethane on when the weather warmed up. Now I am getting a lot of people telling me to leave it as is, that cedar doesn't need a finish and that it smells nice. What are your thoughts?

Our house is all cedar trim, the benches and shelves are all made out of cedar. It smells great and looks good. No matter what kind of things happened in their last night cus when you come back the next day Its smelling good again. And the cedar is unfinished.

I also have an ice castle with cedar interior. I havent done anything to it. I bought it in novemeber and it still smells great everytime I walk in. One thing to be careful of that I found out the hard way is point the exhaust of your ice auger away from the wall. Mine was spitting oil out of the exhaust and got on my cedar walls. Definetly getting a battery powered strike master for next year.

Vapor barrier (ice castle construction) plus vapor barrier (polyurethane) creates a gap between the two that I think will not breath well. I don't know for sure but i think that might make for a place that mold, rot (from moisture) could flourish during the summer storage months. My Ice Castle has tyvec house wrap. I'm not sure of my theory. Any other thoughts?
