My_Key
I was reading the post about replacing a water pump in an outboard and it got me thinking. My Force(new to me last spring) doesn't have a 'stream' of water coming out of it, it's more like a spray. It was like this all last season and I never had an overheating issue, so I didn't give it any thought. For those of you who have a late 80's Force, do you have a stream of water or a spray coming out of the holes? Because if it should have a stream, I need to get it fixed ASAP before it gets worse. crenglund
I have the same thing going on with my 87 125 HP. It has been that way for 15 years. Maybe it is wrong, but it has always worked. When I got the boat I was told that it would not last, I got it cheap so I was not too worrried about it and every year it keeps running. I will watch the thread and look to see if I should fix mine. boatfixer
There will be no tell tale stream on either engine. Just the spray out the idle relief ports.
Valv
As a good routine maintenance I suggest to replace the water pump impeller every 2 or 3 years. It is a small investment that will save a lot of money in case of failure later in the year. Many people argues that it is unnecessary, I say common sense prevails, this is still the most common cause of engine failure, overheating.
