Another Navionics android app question

I notice when I place a buoy on a map it says something like adding features will be visible to all of the Navionics network. What does this mean?

You have 2 choices when you mark a spot:

1. Mark a favorite--> This is only stored locally on your phone and only visible to you.

2. Add an object--> This is a community shared spot, and will be visibly to anyone viewing that map that has the feature turned on.

If you want to mark your honey hole, then use the "Mark a Favorite" option.

The community shared spots are very convenient to mark things that you don't mind sharing with people. Things such as "shallow rocks", "bait store", "winter access", "my wheelhouse", etc etc.

Do you know how this works? If you add a feature like a danger buoy, how long till it shows up on everybody's map? I would think it wouldn't show until you receive an update from Navionics, correct?

It shows up instantly. The other day a friend and I were chatting on the PC and marking spots and/or moving and editing them and if I moved it, he watched it happen on his phone in real time.

You can also take a photo and that will save the spot that only you can see.

Now that's a cool feature! I have not really played with the app till today.

I put a little public 'hot spot' on French lake (rice county) just now. ha. sweet.

It would be helpful if their user guide was available. It says coming soon. But the FAQ section is very helpful.
