Pakashkan Lake Smallies

Recommended Posts

Heading up to Lake Pakashkan in late may for a walleye/pike fishing trip. However, I saw the lake hold Smallies, but I don't know in what kind of numbers it does. I made a bet with my old man I could catch one, but they have been going up there for over 10 years and have never caught one. Anyone have any advice that will help me improve my odds? Thinking fishing the north side of the lake and finding a transition area between deeper water and shallower spawning grounds. I read that the smelt should be suspended up higher and the bass may only be down 6 or 7 feet in 15 feet of water feeding on smelt. Any ideas?

In late May on sunny, warmer days, I would be hitting the shallows that hold bigger boulders and rubble. I would be throwing tubes, jigworms, and/or grubs. At least, that is what I have planned for Minnitaki. We are going the 3rd week of May. Hoping for a warm(er) Spring.
