I am trying this for the first time in September out of Narragansette Bay. I am just wondering if anyone else has done it and can fill me in on what to expect.

Thanks

Ya, I think that is when "The Perfect Storm" happened.

Last year when I was out there (I did not get out fishing mad.gif ) we were threatened by Hurricane Isabel. She ended up turning into the coast down in North Carolina and missed us. Thank God! They said they would have to evacuate the island we were staying on if she had not changed course. We saw a little rain out of it and some pretty big surf.

We did make it out on the ocean one time, off of Cape Cod on a whale watching excursion. It was WAY cool and I can hardly wait to do it again. It was unreal seeing hump-back whales feeding right below your feet!

When we were out there, we saw several large ships cruising by on their way north to aviod the storm.

Honestly;
after watching the perfect storm and knowing a few people who have gotten into trouble with their "pleasure boats" on Superior..........I have alot of respect for big water like that.........The power behind it really amazes me, but I have a great deal of respect........

In other words.......you won't see me out there!!!!!!! grin.gif

Hey, way to make sure people see your topic! Perfect storm was part of the same storm that dumped 3 ft of snow on us on Halloween in 1991. If you liked the movie you'd love some of the documentaries that were done about it. You'll gain a whole new respect for those para-rescue teams and the pilots who fly them around! Sometimes my boring old job seams pretty good to me.

We are taking an 8 hour private charter in the Block Island area. It will be me, my 10 year old son, my mother and my sister. We will drop the women off on the island when they have had enough fishing and then will pick them up again at the end of the day. I think my son and I are going to have a ball!
