doesnt do anything, all it says is "the AG (atty general) SHALL consider a lawsuit vs Ncaa" plus must get passed thru the senate who's majority leader is the brother of the AG.

sad thing about the stupidity of these legislatures is, the AG already bargained and settled the lawsuit with the NCAA.

There is ZERO approval of the Standing Rock Tribe as well (and never will be)

its just typical, und arrogance thinking they can do something last second, and shoving something down the native american's throats like their great benefactor Ralph Engelstad who was a nazi sympthazier with hitler parties at the imperial palace and calling out native americans.

its hilarious to watch, great stuff.

ps.--- if they do REVERSE the NCAA lawsuit and keep the name, BYE BYE D1 playoff (NCAA is a private entity, they can do what they want)

Well the Ralph is owned by the family right? Maybe it's just a myth, but I heard that he put in his will that if they changed the mascot, they'd have to find a new place to play. Is there any truth to that? Be a shame to have the nicest rink in college hockey sit empty. (coming from a Gopher fan that's got to mean something.)

I'm a little shock to hear PB say go Sioux.

If there's a bison fan commenting on here. Come back when you win a division 1 championship. Your opinion doesn't matter on a hockey forum grin

Oh that vote by standing rock NEVER took place. There wasn't a vote. They didn't have the vote and the timeline pass so thats why they have to change the name. Get your facts straight.

Bottom line all this is false hope. The name will be change. I had a topic back in November(UNU vs UND) about this. That was the deadline for the standing rock vote that NEVER happen.

or you can look at the standing rock 9-0 tribal council vote against it back in the 90's.

Besides, standing rock is a soveriegn nation, they will never vote FOR the sioux name, and even if a council did next week, the council in 2 years can come in a rip up that contract..

Hockey D1 isnt REAL D1. i mean seriously? bemidji state, quinapiac, ferris state, resseler, omaha? yea, those really scream D1. how embarassing.

NDSU made the BIG DANCE in basketball, and has beat a BIG 12 and BIG 10 team in football, all of that trumps all the D3 hockey titles.

Brooks I think you need to cease contact with me. You are getting feisty and a little mean, and you even agreed with me on a political rant on facebook. I have to think it is my fault.

You are going down a dark path.

As far as the Ralph owning the rink. I cant remember why, but you cant own a college rink or something. He donated it and has control or deed to the land beneath it. Which allows him to actually rent the arena to UND (there are other elements to this, but yes its rented). The trust has complete control of the rink. He did stipulate that the Fighting Sioux name be kept indefinitely in the rink.

For anyone who thinks allowing the Sioux to change their name and play in the House that Ralph built, would be ok with him. Dont you remember when he was going to pull the plug in the middle of construction when they were talking about having the tribes vote.

Also Ralph really did say that he never wanted a UND hockey team that wasnt called the Sioux to play there. Is it in the trust, I dont know. I heard from his own mouth that he would give it to the youth teams to play in before allowing a non Sioux team to play in it. I believe this was the year it was opening after the tribal vote.

I hate the Sioux but come on, here is a quote from Ralph

"Tradition is the gentle fabric woven through time and experience which generates meaning, character, and identity to one and all. The Fighting Sioux logo, the Fighting Sioux uniforms, the aura of the Fighting Sioux tradition and the spirit of being a Fighting Sioux are of lasting value and immeasurable significance to our past, presence, and future." —Ralph Engelstad

Clearly, he holds the Sioux name in the highest respect. Whats the prob.

wait, the SAME ralph englestad that said to a bottineau bartender (it was in the paper) in reference to the native's votes.

"I dont care what those Prairie N--- think" truth, the guy is a nazi sympathizer with hitler bday parties at the imperial palace, the arrogance up there is amazing... then they say "if the natives dont let us have the name, we'll take their native studies scholarship"

http://www.undnews.com/prairie.htm its on und's HSOforum

In a way it will be nice when the name is gone. Its too much drama for me. It was a cool logo when it was the black hawk logo.

Hey Scott on your Facebook page I was gonna write something after a few comments but it wasn't my place. This coming from a union member. Back to the topic.

Brooks, maybe I will let you fish my muskie hole with me this fall, maybe.

So he had a few b-day parties for Hitler....doesnt really make me think the Fighting Sioux name is racist. Maybe I am bigot, but I could see why people might want to retaliate, take indian scholarships away. Come to think of it, why are there any native studies scholarships? who pays for them? I remember when Bemidji was fighting for a new rink and they kept getting pushed back because first the new Indian Red Lake hospital and then the on-Campus multi million $$ indian culture building that no one goes to.
