Late ice kitties??

Wondering if there are lakes around the metro that it would be good to try for cats through the late ice? I have tried a couple of times up by Richmond, wondering if there are any other places to try closer to the cities? I see that Peltier has been stocked with them for a few years, has anyone had luck getting any of them there? Thanks for any info.

i think the general consensus is that not many lakes have the density as the Chain does, its pretty tough to find em in metro lakes through the ice from what I hear.

Yeah, the populations just don't seem to be thick enough around the metro for you to have much of a shot at catching a channel. I'd make try fishing for other species on stocked lakes and see if you can catch one by accident. That's kind of how it seems to work.

like was already stated the population density is low on the metro lakes that have them. also remember that the lakes in the metro are stocked with fish from the horseshoe chain so why not just go there since the denisty is greater and they are the same strain of fish.

yea the dnr puts nets out every year and will take so many pounds of fish to bring to the metro area to stock the F.I.N. Lakes. I don't remember if it was talked about on here or not. I have talked with one of the guys that help with doing this. you can always get more info from the dnr's montrose office since they are the ones that over sees horseshoe and the other lakes in stearns & wright county. they are not the one that do the stocking but it is another part of the dnr that does it. montrose office will have the details.
