Full axle vs stubby axle

Well I THINK I have finally narrowed my search for a new house down to a Yetti or a Carsella.

I was told the Carsella has a full axle. I have not called Carsella to confirm this yet. Is this true?

The Yetti has a stubby axle like most other manufacturers.

Is the full axle worth it?

Has anybody had problems with the stubby axles on their house? My father in-law has a house with stubby axles and needs to rotate his tires after every season..No big deal I guess its easy to rotate tires.

Does the stubby axle cause the tires to bow in?

I would think a stubby axle would be easier to repair if it broke/bent because you only need to replace one side instead of the entire axle.

Does anybody here know of another house with full axles?

Any help or advice would be great. At some point I promise to make a decision and quit asking tons of questions!!

I'm curious about this now cause I can't logically think how a full axle would work on a drop down ice house. Since it would go full through wouldn't it take up space inside the house? I can only picture this working if there was a bed there and the axle was underneath the bed but aren't the axles usually 1/4 or so from the back meaning you'd render a lot of space useless?

On the Lodge style houses, its not neccesarily an axle, but a pivot point.

The wheel assembly can rotate up and down on the "axel", but the actual bearings and tire are about 24" forward of the "axle" with the weight being put on a spring between the bearing end and the "axle". This design doesn't put direct weight bouncing on the bearings, it is distributed and absorbed by the springs. Not sure how the others are put together, but it is well published that the Ice Castles have the wheel tow issue. My friend had it happen to theirs as well.

I can put a picture up tomorrow of the lodge wheel system if your interested.

It still blows my mind how these manufacturers don't even start putting double axles on anything under 18'. With all the bouncing these trailers do out on the ice! I know they've got the weight ratios figured out, but that's alot of strain put on a torsion axle. The next house will more than likely have a full axle. Haven't seen a full axle with springs yet, though.
