Ice conditions on lake despair

Has anyone been up on lake despair or jack fish or loon haunt or any other lake around there? I am just wondering what the slush conditions are like up there?

I havent been up there in the Winter. I know some buddies who will probably be going up later on.

Just curious...it sounds like you know your way around that area. I have been going up there in the Fall for years with my friend who has a cabin on an island up there. Do you go up there a lot? Do you go in the Summer?

Just thought i could compare notes.

Yea i usually go up every weekend but this winter has been slow due to snow and slush conditions. I only made it up one weekend. I do have a cabin on despair so i know around a little we have had the cabin since the early '70s.

What type of fish do you target there in the winter? We fished that area last memorial day week and had an awesome week of fishing! We also fished it 4th of july week and did well for larger walleye. Also hit up rainey lake and had fun catching those fighter slotty walleyes! I would be intereted how you get to the other lakes because I would imagine the connecting waters wouldn't freeze with the current. We stay with Bill and Nell right at the landing! Do they have cabins open in the winter? Never thought to ask them. Good luck jup there! Leave a few for me to catch again this year!
