Fever
I guess I'm not totally against spooling up the entire spool with flouro but it is on average more expensive that my Power pro is. If you do go that route I'd suggest put a mono backer on your spool first then put your flouro on. I too think you should try a few different approaches and find your own way. I understand all opinions posted and alot of them are quite helpful. I guess I just try to save money by making a 20.00 spool of Flouro last longer and be used on several set ups rather than two or so. If a person learns the necessary knots fishing gets a bit cheaper and a bit easier. ie: loop knot, double Polomer, blood, uni etc... Also like I said some knots if done right (lubed up prior to tightening) are are actually stronger than the test of the line. So yeah, they can be a weak spot but they don't have to be. Also, like I said, for piece of mind you could add a tiny drop of super glue. I used to use the kind that has a small brush applicater. Less mess. Good luck. mainbutter
I always use 20 or 25lb fluoro leaders for bass fishing in the midwest and canada. There is a tad more confidence b/c of line visibility, but really my biggest gain is from bite protection when one of the north country's toothier critters gets a hold of my lure. That random once in a while musky or big pike that chows on your senko is a big surprise, and has a better chance of being landed if you have a bit of bite protection.
