pickup camper as an ice house?

Has anyone tried this out or know if it can be done? I got a great deal on one and am looking to use it as an ice house but not sure if it can be done. Any tips or ideas would be great

I've not done it but seems I've seen it at least once or twice a year on lakes through my ice fishing travels. I know there is one on a local lake by me this year I saw when I went out.

Sorry I'm not much more help but in regards to can it be done, yes. No tips or ideas though except that the one I saw this year had plywood around the front under the upper part that would go over the cab. Not sure if they were just using it as storage or modified to add holes there or what. If I see it again and someone is there I'l wander over and ask to take a peak.

There has been one moving around the lake down here too. Pretty sure it has plywood surrounding it also and is then banked up with some snow. Seems like a good idea if it can be done cheap

cant imagine why not: you would have a huge part of the work done for you(electrical, sleeping arrangements, fridge, stove, cabinets ect,) would think the biggest downfall would the floor space. would be pretty much be a 2 person house with holes having to be drilled in walkways. you should look back at the thread where some guy turned his minivan into a mobile house. outside of the humor, he did have some good ideas.

I also thing the weight could play a part as far as timing to get on the ice and back off.

I had a friend that did this. They pretty much gutted all of the cabinets out leaving the sides that go over the box of the truck as 2 bench seats. The holes were in the middle of the floor and the upper bed was left for sleeping/storage. I think they brought it to and from the lake by jacking it up and putting it into the pickup. It wasn't too bad for fishing 2-4 people.
