lindy rigging

Recommended Posts

Your going to get a different response from everyone who answers this, so here is my answer.

As sensitive as you can afford, spinning rod, medium light fast action. Personally I would go longer for a lindy rod. Mine are 7'6". The longer rod helps with a speeping hookset and they double as a great bobber rod.

Without knowing the budget it's pretty hard to recommend a rod/reel, but Limit Creek has a couple that would work great. Check out the smoothie and the 8'3" rod.

I've been looking at a fenwick HMG model GS 66ML-MF with a Pflueger Arbor 7430X, what do you thing of that combination? I don't want to go over the 6'6" because I don't have a rod locker in my boat so i don't want to break the tip.

The rod sounds like it would be a good dual purpose rod. It should work well for either rigging or jigging and the ML tip should work good for bite detection. I don't know a thing about that reel but if it is anything like the Pfluegers I have owned it should be a nice setup.

I use a 7' Rapala rod, medium light action, with a bait casting reel spooled w/ Power Pro line. Then I use a mono leader of whatever length I need.

The sensitivity using the Power Pro line is unbelieveable!!! I can feel the bottom change from hard to soft, the sinker hitting rock, and not to mention, rock solid hook sets. Just have to lighten up on the drag when fighting a bigger fish.
