I will be putting on my presentation at the Brewer Library in Richland Center this winter. March 19, 2011 and 10:30am will be the presentation. The presentation will be focused on the streams of the area and the "BIG" trout that live in them. There will be two added focuses. One will be on encouraging the children of the region to take up trout fishing. The last focus will be on the "Simplification" of Wisconsin's Small Stream Trout Regulations.

Thank goodness Governor Scott Walker is starting on Monday, revamping the DNR. Sounds like lots of changes. Nice to hear Walker wants to simplify trout regulations. I think the 12" minimum brown and the 8" minimum brook. For me this is western WI.

As you can see from this simple color coated map (not entirely perfect) you get the point that standardizing to five bag or standardizing to just say keep five trout any size like Minnesota regs would be a great way to simplify. Sounds like this is what the new proposal will be all about.

Oh BTW Len congratulations getting that beautiful brook trout as the cover of the 2010 trout regulations booklet! or is this one slightly different, I forget?
