Anyone out yet?

Got out yesterday for the first time, with a group of 8th grade kids. Didn't fish myself, but cut holes and helped them. Caught a number of stocked rainbows. Ice is 8-10".

Which lake? I've been out a couple of times but only on about 4" of ice.

Crystal Cove, a city lake in South Sioux that the state stocks with rainbows twice a year. The lake has lots of other species in it and supports a good fishery. I believe that the trout makes fantastic meals....for those other species

Glad 2 see you made it out Shawn! We have been to busy still catching walleyes from the boat to get ice gear ready yet. Sounds like I'll be ready by next weekend once we get 1 more boat trip out of the way.

Yeah, I am jealous. I would love to be boat fishing yet, but then again...ice calls and we have some great ice this year. Low snow and cold temps, can't beat it. We are going out tomorrow with a good sized crew. Bringing the grill with some brats, dogs, and burgers. Should be a great day with low wind and 35 degree temps. It will be like summer out there

Went out on the David City park pond yesterday, slow, 18-20" of ice.

State put in 1500 more trout, for a grand total of about 9K, I believe, for the year. I didn't get out, but my buddy said it was slow. We had a group out last weekend from the school. Good turnout on a cold day, but the fishing was slow. Lots of snow with some slush underneath. I am looking forward to some melting and getting out for the late, late ice. This time of year really gets slow, at least for me.
