eskimo quickfish 3

Hey I have an Eskimo Quickfish 3 that I just purchased. I haven't gotten a chance to turn the heater on in it yet but I like it so far. It is 70" by 70" and is 80" tall. I have a Mr. Heater Buddy heater. I've heard that these hub style shacks can be hard to heat, is that true? Will my portable buddy heater be enough? I think it would so fine but let me know what your thoughts and experiences are. Thanks!!!

I use a big buddy in my thermal base camp and had it on low this weekend when it was 10 degrees and was down to my turtle neck. The thermal is much heavier than the 300 denier that the Eskimo offers but it should do the trick.

I use a cooker/heater in an off brand hub shelter. I have to have it on low and then at times it gets too warm.

You should have no problem heating it with a Mr. Buddy.

I have a qf3 and rarely have to do more than occasionally turn on my little buddy heater for 15 min now and then. Even in -10 temps a little buddy does the trick in the qf3

I think you'll be just fine. I have a Glen's 6X6 which has 600 denier fabric, I use a Big Buddy and Low or Medium heat works just fine for me!

i was wondering about these as well i just got mine today actually won it at the ice show how good are these in the wind and freezing temps

One of my friends has the QF3 and Mr Buddy combo. Never had a problem staying warm.

QF3 and heater/cooker and it is great, never turn it on more than low. You should be fine.

My buddy heats the QF3 just fine.

If its super cold or windy a cooker/heater might be needed, but otherwise you should be fine.

If it gets cold/holes freeze - throw an $5 emergency blanket across the top on the inside!

Good to hear this stuff though, I have to go pickup my rainchecked QF3 from FF - yay!

Here is a tip for setting up the QF3. Figure out which way the wind is blowing and put the corner farthest away from the door into that corner. This will give you two quick tie down points to hold the fish house in the relative position you want to put it in (outer ties), then run inside, stake down the 4 corners, and then go back outside and put in your other outside stakes.

Setup should be less than 10 minutes including shoveling a snow spot, drilling holes, and putting everything inside. With the door away from the wind, helps keep the heat in, but still allows good ventilation through the side holes/top of the door zipper down.

I still haven't figured out a way to keep the condensation off the roof after a few hours. Hopefully my "late season" wooden floor will help. No way I am hauling that out without my truck as it turns my portable into a semi-perm.
