Recording From Underwater Camera Monitor

I'd like to record from the RCA output jack on the monitor of an underwater camera.

Cheapest and smallest device options? USB upload capabilities to PC a plus.

If you have a Video Camera with a Video In Jack that would be the easiest.

Another options would be a DVR if you have one in your fish house or one laying around.

You could also try using a VCR but the quality would be not the greatest.

Otherwise use a laptop and a capture device to fulfill what you are trying to accomplish.

That is a good option, but you will then need to have a laptop or PC on the water to record the footage (if that is the intention here).

I've been on the lookout for a small battery powered mobile DVR. Other than the Aqua Vu DVR that can be MacGyvered to be used with any camera (see YouTube), the only options I've found are security camera recorders that are pretty expensive.

I really think the easiest way is to get a cheap video camera (Video In), record the footage to tape and then transfer to PC (via device similar to picture above or possibly firewire/USB). Or maybe you can find a cheap flash Video camera that has "Video In"......most don't though.

I'm looking for something portable to take on the ice so the VCR and laptop won't do. For sure it has to be DC(battery) power.

What I've come up with is a camera, flash memory, and video in which as you said might be hard to find.

I've done a lot of looking and the cheapest option looks to be the Aqua Vu DVR and if you have a different camera or video source then mod it like done here:

DTRO- you realize you just said "cheap" and the Aqua Vu DVR unit in the same sentence? That unit they put out to record on cam costs more than my actual camera did.

I hear ya, but I would like to see a cheaper flash memory or direct USB upload option. I've looked and there just isn't a good option out there.

Yeah I paid $79 for my Aqua Vu Scout after a $20 off coupon,and that DVR unit costs $99. Ridiculous

Ok it took a LOT of searching, but I finally found one:

Can be found from $75 to $150. Has A/V Composite IN for recording.

typed in "aqua vu dvr" and there were 2 listed- $119 and $139. Gimme a hint at finding a cheaper one please, I do want one but not for that much

On that auction site, there is a camera I listed above for $72. Not only do you get the DVR capabilites, you also get an HD video camera. Not a bad deal.
