Video Camera Question........

So i was putzin around in the closet last night and came across my old video camera. Sparked her up and hooked it up to the TV and watched my 2 girls when they were babies. Just got flooded with memories of the past...Anways this camcorder records on "mini vhs cassettes" anyone know if they are still available? Thanks for any and all input!

I think you can still get them. I would try to get the existing tapes converted to DVD if I were you for safe keeping. I am doing that now ith my 8mm camcorder tapes. That way if the camcorder quits working or the tape gets wrecked I have copies.

You can find them on the internet. most places probably wont have them at a store.

I have seen the 8mm tapes around, but it is getting hard to find any kind of tape in a store anymore. I agree that the net is the best place to find them. Get then converted before your camera or tapes fail.

I like the converting idea, but how does one do it? bring it somewhere or can i do it my self with a computer?

You can do it on your computer if you have a DVD burner and you also need a capturing device. They make several different kinds. You might have to go old school with the RCA cables.

Guess it depends how you can connect the camera to the computer or if youd have to use a VCR

I have the mini VHS tapes also and I found some at Wally world a couple of years ago. We video tape our deer hunting camp and stories (and have since the mid 1980's). I just bought a VCR/DVD recorder so I can burn all the VCR tapes into DVD's. It works pretty slick.

I convert mine using a cheap DVD recorder that I bought from Wal-Mart for like $50. It is simply a regular DVD player with recording capabilities. Just plug the output of the camcorder into the dvd player and hit record. It records the camcorder output just like it would record a TV channel. Pretty simple.

I have read that some of the cheap USB capture devices have issue with audio and video getting out of sync so it would look like a bad Bruce Lee movie.
