Remote Start

Recommended Posts

I have a 2004 F-150 and I recently discovered that the remote start doesn't work. The door lock and unlock on the key thing work just fine and when I hit the remote start button, the lights flash but it doesn't start. It worked last winter, now it doesn't.

Do they run this through the ignition, the starter, or elsewhere? What should I be looking for?

If it makes any difference, I did accidentally run the battery dead this summer.

I doubt your keypad is bad since it can communicate with the vehicle. More than likely a wire got messed up or a controller or something on the remote start.

Have had good luck with small repairs at Best Buy on the remote starter on my wifes Excursion. Her Bronco had a Ford Astro start in it and we brought it to a few placed and nobody could figure it out. That was years ago...

You could pop the hood and and see if you here anything when you hit the auto start. On my diesels there are all sorts of noises prior to start up but it may be silent for gas jobs.
