DIY Trailer guides, slides, runners ???

Anyone have any ideas on how to make some sort of cheap trailer glides for the skis/carbides to slide nicely on the trailer? I dont really feel like dropping $100+ on the store bought ones.

I've heard of using vinyl door jams, but they would be almost as expensive and who knows how they would hold up.

Look for a old plastic bed liner I have seen them used a few times talk to a spray on bed liner place Im sure they have a fee they have taken out over the years there is Arma in rogers area thats close to you

I got mine at Fleet a couple of years ago. They were about half of the price you posted and they work nice.

how about 3 old hyfax bolted by each other?

I'm thinking I might try pvc pipe. I've heard of others cutting a 2-3" pipe in half and screwing it to the trailer. I might do that, otherwise I'm think I could take 2 pieces of 3/4" and space them an inch or two apart, screwed to a 1x4, then bolt the 1x4 where each ski would go.

I'm not sure if they will become brittle in the cold though. but they are only about $1.50 each, so I can give it a try for about $12.

I had thought of that, but then I went and priced the boards. They are 12-18 dollars a piece, so that didn't seem all too economical.

PVC is brittle when cold.

running on 2 years now using pvc garage door jamb I bought at menards. 10 ft length was 12 bucks If I remember. Chipped at the back of the trailer where the sled makes first contact, but has held up very well.
