air to air heat exchanger

Just wondering if any one has one or has any experience mine is two years old and the outdoor unit is totally coverd in ice the guy who installed it said every thing is fine my question is why did it not do it last year.May be the weather it has been cold and damp and it is still heating. air to air heat exchanger or an air source heat pump? Im thinking heat pump, as a heat exchanger has no external unit.

There should be a defrost mode for your heat pump/condenser..(automatic)

u are rite heat pump the automatic defrost is not working this morning you cant even tell the color of that thing
